Soil fertility as a competitive factor

Year after year, agriculture extracts nutrients from the soil. This must be balanced out. This can be achieved by applying organic-mineral fertilizers.

As the entirety of the soil’s organic matter, humus also plays a fundamental role in soil fertility and yield formation.

This applies to both organic and integrated farming. Although the humus content is primarily determined by the type of soil, arable land use also has an influence on the humus content. Decisive parameters are crop rotation, type and intensity of tillage and the amount of organic fertilization.

For healthy plant growth

Mineral fertilizer, also known as mineral nutrient fertilizer, is an important category of fertilizers that are widely used in agriculture and gardening. This type of fertilizer provides plants with the essential minerals and nutrients they need for their growth and development. Mineral fertilizers differ from organic fertilizers because they contain inorganic compounds derived from mineral sources, as opposed to organic fertilizers, which are made from plant or animal materials.

Mineral fertilizers usually contain the main nutrients nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), which are known as NPK fertilizers. These main nutrients are crucial for plant growth. Nitrogen promotes leaf growth and the green color of the plants. Phosphorus is important for root development and flower formation. Potassium strengthens the plants’ resistance to diseases and stress factors.

In addition to the main nutrients, mineral fertilizers often also contain trace elements or micronutrients such as iron, manganese, zinc and boron. These are required in small quantities, but are nevertheless crucial for healthy plant growth. A deficiency of these trace elements can lead to certain diseases or growth disorders.

Mineral fertilizers are produced from natural mineral sources or by chemical processes. Examples of natural mineral fertilizers are potassium sulphate, calcium nitrate and phosphate rock. These materials are mined and processed to produce fertilizers. Chemical fertilizers are produced by synthesizing inorganic compounds such as urea, ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride.

The use of mineral fertilizer offers several advantages. Firstly, they are usually well balanced and contain a defined amount of nutrients, which allows farmers and gardeners to precisely control the nutrition of their plants. Secondly, they are easy to store and transport. Thirdly, they can be quickly absorbed by the plants, which leads to rapid growth results.

Overall, mineral fertilizers are an important part of modern agriculture and gardening, as they provide an efficient way of supplying plants with the nutrients they need to ensure healthy growth and a high quality harvest.

Mineral fertilizer - and what does that have to do with BIOTECH ENERGY?

Digestate as farm fertilizer

The company’s own biogas plant not only produces the energy required for the plant, but also recycles fermentation residues into organic and organic-mineral fertilizers.

These fertilizers consist of agricultural by-products and distillation plant residues, meet high requirements and can be used as organic fertilizers. They compensate for the nitrogen deficiency in the soil caused by the cultivation of arable crops and contribute to humus formation.

Humus is crucial for soil fertility and yield formation in organic and integrated farming, influenced by crop rotation, tillage and organic fertilization.

BIOTECH ENERGY provides a technology that addresses the global challenges of environmental protection, climate protection and food security in one. The biotech company extracts renewable energy from biotechnological processes, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, it promotes sustainable food production and processing in order to meet the global demand for food.
